In the long term it is hoped to post the text of much of Berlin’s published work on the site. For the time being, the text of Concepts and Categories is available in PDF form on an experimental basis.
Corrections (mostly trivial) to the published books are listed on this site. Links to the lists so far posted appear below. The abbreviations are explained in a separate list.
In 2013–14 Princeton University Press (and in some cases Pimlico) published new editions of 11 works by Berlin, all containing additional material. Since these new editions were completely reset, their pagination differs from that of previous editions. This may cause some inconvenience to readers who wish to follow up references to earlier editions in the new ones. Concordances of old and new editions have therefore been posted on this site, so that references to one can readily be converted into references to another. Links to these concordances appear below. Concordances to L/FEL and RT/RT2 are printed in L and RT2.
Bit by bit the sources of quotations left unreferenced by Berlin are being traced, often thanks to the kindness of experts in the relevant field. Some sources missing in the original editions prepared by Henry Hardy are listed on this site as they come in. Links to the lists so far posted appear below. Occasional gap-filling of this sort also occurs in the lists of corrections to which links are provided above. The unreferenced essays in AC have been reprinted with references in later volumes. The new editions referred to above under ‘Concordances’ incorporate additional references discovered in time for inclusion.
