Letters

A selection of Berlin’s letters has been published in four volumes. Since publication, further letters have come to light, and some of these are available on this site in PDF form, volume by volume:

‘More Flourishing: Supplementary Letters 1928–1946’
‘More Enlightening: Supplementary Letters 1946–1960’ (includes Berlin’s premarital letters to his future wife Aline)
‘More Building: Supplementary Letters 1960–1975’
‘More Affirming: Supplementary Letters 1975–1997’

The ‘bootleg’ correspondence between Berlin and H. G. Nicholas during the Second World War is available in a separate online file, ‘What about Daphne? Correspondence with H. G. Nicholas 1942–1945’

In an additional selection of letters from the period of the last volume, ‘More Explaining’, Berlin responds to enquiries about his own ideas

There is also an interesting cache of ‘Letters from Solomon Rachmilevich’ written between 1935 and his death in 1953

Further letters will be posted in due course.
